I am back in Bend, OR after a few weeks of craziness. After WC Finals we headed to Squaw, California for a few NorAm races (GS and SG) before Nationals (which were also in Squaw). This spring was my first time skiing in Squaw, and I had such a wonderful time! During a few days off we (Stacey, Leanne and I) headed down to Stacey's family ranch for some gun-shootin' rootin' tootin' times. Check out some pictures below... While in California I even got to hang out with my friends Chadd and Elise (from Bend) while I was there. I also met some lovely new people, skied on many new runs, and managed to steal my first U.S. Nationals title (by one hundredth! phew!) in the Super G. After Nationals, I headed to Denver and Park City for some physical testing, then home for a few days before travelling to Beaver Creek. We spent 4 days in Beaver Creek (the women's speed team + Mikaela) testing out the new World Cup and World Championships track. The hill was very challenging and exciting, and our camp was tons of fun. I actually found my love for DH again on that tough hill, which was something I think I needed to do before taking the summer off of speed skis. Anywho, that hill has a lot of character, and I'm psyched to get back on it come November for our opening speed World Cup! We were brainstorming names and thought "Phoenix" sounds good for the fiery beast of a hill it is...we'll see! After Beaver Creek I returned home for a few days before heading to Mammoth Mountain for a fundraiser (Mammoth Invitational, yipee!) and then up to Edmonton, Alberta to visit some family. I am now back in Bend, and after spending the weekend hosting a camp up at Bachelor, I am resting up for my trip to LA tomorrow. Seemingly, I do not stop moving. I can't believe I was even contemplating going to school this spring. Since April 1st (the first day of school) I have been home for only 3 weekdays.... so that wouldn't have worked very nicely. Not sure what I was thinking there. But, I am taking an online class (Astronomy) and taking care of business before getting back in the gym and back on my skis for some training in Mammoth in a few weeks. I hope that things start to slow down then, and I can take a few breaths between mountain biking and squatting...hmmm For now, check out these pictures. I'll upload more later, but for now this is what I've got from my spring so far. Whoo! down at Stacey's family ranch...yeah that's right. entering Island Ranch tossin' a ball around. pig in the middle :) just random Leanne--gettin' it done. more randomness yep, I shoot guns too.... Megs winning the NorAm overall!
