So I've been taking quite a few photos with my film camera lately. I was particularly addicted this fall when bright colors were abounding and water sparkled on living things. I also enjoyed the end of the summer--between ski trips I was extra sensitive to the changing seasons and sun patterns. I think you can see these things in my photos. I was intrigued by the face of the stars, sun, moon, and light and how all of these aspects changed as my location on this earth did the same. Forms took shape in woods, in pines, in lakes and in playgrounds. Something unique can be seen when surroundings are drastically contrasted. It's easy to get in a pattern, but not as simple when you're constantly jet lagged, oxygen deprived, sun hungry, under and overdressed, slept, hungry, abuzz. It seems easy to sleep it off, but while my body needed it, my mind resisted. I just wanted to observe. Here are a few of my observations. sun through a pine on a cascade mountain through a playground set beneath the rocky mountains of Alberta falling water from a waterfall on a hike to Lake Serene, Washington looking up a Kairn atop Ha Ling mountain above Canmore, Alberta that's my seat. at Sylvan Lake, Alberta the gleam of an old mattress pattern sun shining down on my chairlift After returning home from Colorado yesterday, I realized I didn't take any pictures while I was there (other than a few silly shots on my phone for Instagram. By the way, check out my Instagram feed--lalalaurenne). I'm going to change that now that I'm home again and have time. I just looked on my overflowing shelf and saw my polaroid, two old film cameras, and my tiny old Russian spy film camera I bought at an antique store in Bulgaria last year...I'm going to have to try that one out. Colorado was some of the best training I've had--I'm skiing fast and getting stoked for the race season to kick off next week in Lake Louise. I've got quite a more photos, but will post them later as I don't want to overwhelm the few followers that read this page. So check in soon. And get psyched for snow. It's coming.
