I didn't take many photographs down in Portillo, but there was one crisp and clear evening when I became inspired (and froze my fingers and toes) to capture the essence of the beautiful mountains around the ski area. Above is a shot of the cats grooming up and down the main slope (Plateau) after an incredible few days of extreme snow fall. the Portillo main lodge/hotel/cruise ship amongst the evening's stars--from opposing angles and slightly distinguished color palettes the octagon (where we stay) collocated with peaks and light spots I know, it's absurd to have so many skis. Our sport is so incredibly silly and wasteful and this irks me to the depths of my being. It is a blatant fact that continually, relentlessly, absorbs my mind. I more often than not push it out, ignore it, and tell myself I'll address it someday in the future. Really, it's amazing how extravagant ski racing is, how environmentally harmful it is, with all the plane rides, equipment needs, production practices, etc. It's difficult to be torn up by something you love so dearly. But I continue.... it's blurry, but kinda pretty... During our down time in Portillo I often nap/play/sunbathe/read down by the pool and hot tubs. The stress fracture in my foot is allowing me only to do impact in water--so I was a bit of a fishy fish in Chile. fishy fish Tio Bob's is an adventure that we all look forward to, typically on the afternoon before a day off. It's wonderful to get out of the hotel for a meal (french fries?? YES PLEASE), and the sights from up top are pretty extraordinary. See the little yellow building down in the left-hand corner? That's the hotel! Stuffing our faces with burgers, steaks, and flan is one of the highlights of our training camp experience.... riding the chair up to Tio Bob's with these gangstas las casas privadas I can't get enough of this lake...and the sunset that evening was on PINKISHPURPLEFIRE!!!!! K I don't really have any more to say. So enjoy the photos ;) whaaaaaaaa it's so infinite! double exposure--groomers/tracks walking to dinner with the setting sun the ghosts of Jackie and Stacey just playing in spandex and snowflakes Octagon y Casas silly kids. finalé
