at the Meissner snow shelter during our full-moon back country XC adventure
So my X-mas break was pretty epic. I cross-country skied 3 times, one of which was under a full moon and in the back country. Two times I went at the Olympic Nordic Center in Canmore, Alberta. I played on a playground in -20 degree weather in a foot of snow with my dog(s). I played mounds of music with family and friends. I got to start my new year with my best friends. I skied the Summit of Mt. Bachelor the day that it opened after a storm that brought 6 feet of new snow with it.... Needless to say, I was lucky and busy during my seemingly short stay in the states for the holidays. It was fantastic. And I took pictures of that fantasia. And they are here....

Well, that's all folks. I'm so excited to head back to Cortina on Wednesday for another weekend of speed! Standing within vast mountains and beautiful cliffs always makes me feel small, makes me smile, deepens my breath. I'm glad for that, and I'm glad that Cortina is one of those places. I breathe easy just thinking about it... and I'll be there soon. For now, I'm taking advantage of this here couch under my bum and enjoying every minute of it. Peace and love.

I wish you a lucky bib number in Cortina. It's your turn and what a beautiful place and course to do it on.

Hey hey Laurenne
Happy New Year
Glad you got to be back with your friends & family over holiday, nice pics, looks like good time had by all (even the doggies).
Great racing in St. Anton huge congrats on 5th! "Coop" had neat call on your run saying things like fast, strong, fearless about you! What a difference between DH & SG conditions, What is with the snow and speed races this season - ARRRGH!
Naturally there is crap coverage here (wrote to USSA). We have to take morsels from scattered twitter feeds, CBC (which had 4 minutes on Cortina rest of hour on Wengen) & FIS site (puke), then follow the breadcrumbs for a fleeting glimpse of the BEST alpine team on planet. Hate live timing much?! Hate being held hostage by Universal MORE!! Thought for sure you'd be on podium (many in our group had geat vibe for you + Cortina) but the winter warlock decided to wreak snowy havoc again.
Happy to hear you made it down SAFELY with points. We haven't seen a lick of footage yet but then again you guys couldn't even see on the race course. Gotta tell you it stinks to see "lowered start" & "cats working to ready snowy piste" tweets but can't imagine what you really go through to ski it... maybe you could blog/post some pics from your POV.
So are you stuck in Europe until February races or are you coming back for break? You guys get some good food yet? What happened to that food truck that made Mexican, etc.? Can you reply/post or tweet if you guys need "care packages" cause your fans will come through for sure! We laugh thinking how the Europeans barely last two frickin' weeks in North America (even though we really like some of them).
Anyways, try to have SOME fun, avoid burnout at all cost! Keep singing, strumming, clicking & dreaming. You WILL be on that podium soon enough, we are cheering for you!
